According to new data published by the loyal gamers at Dot Esports.com, the number of active players of Counter-Strike: Global Offensive has continued to grow steadily throughout the year that just ended, reaching a big spike by April of 2020, possibly linked to the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic.

CS:GO earned THOUSANDS of new players during 2020
The spread of the COVID-19 pandemic caused a sudden surge in popularity for several gaming tiles, and CS:GO wasn’t the exception.
Despite the 20-more years of presence in the gaming scene, the first-person shooter has maintained a steady growth in its player base, reaching new heights back in 2020 – right in March, to be more precise – when it jumped to a monthly player cap of 1 million, according to the info made available via Steam Charts.
Even better than that, just last February, Steam reported 1,123,485 concurrent players, and earlier in March, the number went up a couple thousands more, reaching now $1,198,581 total.
