DOTA PRO MAJOR AND MINOR DOWN THE TOILET WITH CORONAVIRUS

No, there’s nobody infected. It’s just the coronavirus AGAIN making Valve cancel the OGA Dota PIT Minor and the EPICENTER Major. (Why program events anyway? Or better still, why don’t you just cancel EVERYTHING in one dashing, swift move?)

Valve announced yesterday that the fourth Minor and Major of the 2019-20 Dota Pro Circuit have been canceled because of the coronavirus jitters. A few days before, the third DPC Major, ESL One Los Angeles, was postponed. In other words, the LA Major is still on, just benched, but the fourth Major cycle seems to be gone for good. Smooth, guys.

In a tweet posted by DOTA 2, they poured their little hearts out, “After careful consideration of the current state and trajectory of the Covid-19 pandemic, as well as the health risk that this presents to competitors, staff and fans alike, we have made the difficult decision to cancel to the 4th minor and major tournaments of the DPC season.”

Another tweet followed, “Given the high fluidity of the state of both the pandemic and geopolitical landscape, we will keep following the situation and decide how to approach the final major and minor of the season as the weeks progress.” – because doing it strictly online would be such a hard thing to accomplish? :S

The OGA AMD SAPPHIRE Dota PIT Minor (named the fourth DPC Minor just last week – Just last week? See what I mean? What even for?) was scheduled to take place in April, at Split, Croatia. It was going to host 8 teams in a bout for a juicy $72,000 grand prize and a spot in the Major. EPICENTER was scheduled to hold the fourth Major in May, at Moscow. This last one was hosting 16 of Dota’s best, with a juicy prize pool of $1,000,000 and 15,000 Dota Pro Circuit points on offer. But, alas, that too has gone down the toilet. Just like the tons of toilet paper I’m using these days without a valid reason! LOL!
