BLIZZARD & ESL TEAM UP TO PRODUCE HEARTHSTONE ESPORTS

Operating the game ecosystem is a great move for ESL and Hearthstone. Fans around the world can look forward to an exciting two years ahead!” – Michael Van Driel, Senior VP Game Management for ESL Gaming.

It looks like esports-scene experts ESL has teamed up with Blizzard Entertainment to launch and operate a Hearthstone “esports ecosystem” for a two-year period, as stated by the Germany-based company in their official homepage only a few days ago.  The new partnership will see ESL heavily involved in already-existing Hearthstone events, such as the Hearthstone Master Tours and Grandmasters, plus enhancing the yearly prize pool to an impressive 3Million USD

A New Hearthstone Esports Ecosystem

Both Blizzard and ESL have been intricately involved with one another for some years already, as their pre-existing and successful collaborations with Blizzard’s other major franchises StarCraft II and Warcraft III have effectively shown us during the last years. So it makes perfect sense that the video-game developers should be very looking to give ESL the chance to provide their popular online card-game with the same potent resources of ESL/DreamHack-branded events and competitions.

As you folks may already be aware, both ESL and DreamHack originated from the same esports organizing stub, the Modern Times Group, however, ever since the last few months of 2020, both companies were officially ‘put’ together, under the simpler ESL Gaming moniker. In spite of the corporate merger,  ESL and DreamHack will not be reshaping or renaming their format.

As the old saying goes… If it ain’t broken, Why Fix It?
