OVERWATCH GIVES US THE SPOOKS IN OCTOBER
‘Tis the season to be spooky, and Overwatch‘s Halloween Terror event, beginning on October 12th, is da place to be.
There is a returning game mode full of zombie robots called Junkenstein’s Revenge. It’s 4 players in a bout against a hoard of zomnics (which are zombie omnics, or zombie robots for those of you not in the loop) in a fight for castle doors (or was it a fight for the castle?) Either way, there are dudes/dudettes and zombie robots having it out at the castle entrance. Again.
SOME CLOWNING AROUND IS AFOOT
Ahh, but there’s clowns involved! A Pennywise wannabe…er… inspiration is turning up as a Roadhog skin (or, rather, was teased by Overwatch as an inclusion.) If you recall, Pennywise is the insufferable, mad clown from Stephen King’s blockbuster horror novel/movie, It. A horrifying Roadhog wearing a mask with a clown on his paunch with the word “smile” pops a red balloon with a pig on it… (well, ok, it’s THEIR version.) The skins were revealed in the days prior to the release.
SKINS, SKINS EVERYWHERE
Weekly challenges during the Halloween Terror event will get you 3 of those skins you saw. Other new skins, voice lines, sprays, emotes and whatnot are going to be available, too. Especially with Reinhardt.
Draugr Reinhardt is kicking it up a notch for this year’s Terror event; this particular skin was the first one to be revealed. Reinhardt knows his spookings and he will come on as a ghostly Nordic warrior who decided to rise from the dead and be scary af. Yeah, Reinhardt’s got this covered. Sharp arrows stuck in his shield tell a tale of battlegrounds, and his face is now a smiley skeleton head with glowy blue eyes. The hammer has been Nordic-ized as well: it has been turned into a massive axe with creepy blue light. Nice move.
The three-week long terrorific event will be running from October 12th to November 2nd, and there will probably be (as always) 8 skins to unlock.
