FROM UNDERDOGS TO TOP DOGS: TEAM LIQUID BEATS C9 TO RISE TO TOP OF LCS SUMMER SPLIT
Who doesn’t love to see an underdog make it to the top? And so much more the case when said underdog has had it terribly rough in recent times. One such worthy case is Team Liquid, who have now surged to the lead thanks to their defeat of Cloud9 and are poised to deliver some exciting performances at the LCS Summer Split Playoffs.
In an exclusive interview with Win.gg, Mads “Broxah” Brock-Pederson talked a little bit about the implications of their newly-found success, while pondering a bit about the challenges coming ahead. “It feels pretty good to be able to beat C9. Cloud9 has looked pretty dominant this year. Us being able to continue challenging them for the first place, proving ourselves, is really, really important for us going forward,” said Broxah.

Cloud9 not as good as it used to be?
Broxah also took a couple of minutes to talk about Cloud9’s recent performance, which has been decreasing in quality lately, and the reasons why he thinks things have changed: “It seems that C9 is in a position where it’s just not winning with ease anymore. Now they have to put in a lot of effort and work to make it happen a second time and we’re definitely not going to make it easy for them” Now THAT’s what we like to hear!
As for the Week 8’s schedule, the lineup is currently looking like this:
LCS Summer Split – Week 8
July 31s: Team Liquid vs Dignitas / TSM vs Evil Geniuses
August 1st: 100 Thieves vs FlyQuest / Golden Guardians vs Cloud9 / Team Liquid vs CLG / Dignitas vs Immortals
The schedule goes on August 2nd with four more matches.
