NEW ANIMATED MOVIE ADAPTATION OF “INJUSTICE: GODS AMONG US” IN THE WORKS

-The popular DC video game is finally getting the animated movie treatment.

Are there really gods among us?

That was the very premise of the successful video game released by the creators of the classic Mortal Kombat franchise, NetherRealm Studios back in 2013. The fighting title revolved around a story that portrayed the most beloved – and morally incorruptible – Superman changing sides after suffering a terrible and catastrophic loss at the hands of the Joker, thus forcing the remaining superheroes to take action and put a stop to his new “justice” tyranny.

According to recent online rumours – and once very interesting tweet by NetherRealm’s Ed Boon himself – there appears to be an animated movie version of the Injustice: Gods Among Us video game currently in the works, though neither DC nor its corporate overlord Warner Bros have yet released any official statements in any such regard.

Animated movie adaptation of “Injustice: Gods Among Us” coming soon

So, some online rumors had begun making their way through social media since a few days ago, but it was Ed Boon’s own tweet from May 19th that made the whole world wide web spin with speculation:

What do we actually know about the film?

Not very much at all, apart from the fact that it makes use of a very similar story arc involving Superman, and that a teaser trailer for the film will be getting released alongside the upcoming home release for “Batman: The Long Halloween, Part 2” which is planned for Digital release on July 27, and on Blu-ray in Aug 10th.

A recent article on the same story by the folks at IGN shed a little more light on the particular story to be displayed on film. In essence, the plot remains pretty much the same: Superman gets tricked by the Joker to kill his own pregnant wife, Lois Lane, and to also detonate a nuclear weapon that results in the deaths of 5 million denizens of Metropolis. Five years later, the Man of Steel has built up his own governing & purely autocratic team of his own, called the One Earth Regime, and it is now up to Batman and the remaining good superheroes to fix the mess.

We will keep you posted with updates as soon as they arrive.
