PS5 Price Leaked By Amazon France

PS5 Price Leaked By Amazon France… Or Not

A couple of days ago, a seemingly legit screengrab gave us a half-baked thrill when it started going around that Amazon France had leaked the price for the PlayStation 5, and that it was truly wallet-friendly.

The leak suggested that the PS5 was looking to retail for €499, which is very affordable, but then came the bad news: Amazon France confirmed that the screenshot with the price leak for the next-gen console was fake. “The screenshot showing a PS5 product page on amazon.fr with a price of 499€ and a release date on November 20 is a fake and is not coming from our website,” an Amazon spokesperson cleared up.

Ok, so the price leak is fake, and nothing is official, but what if the much-awaited console does ring in at that level? Slating it to retail at £499 / €499 / $499 might not just be throwing random thoughts around. Even if it is still higher than their previous console, this would not be such a bad result for gamers, since even though it’s not a small bundle, it’s still totally doable.

The PS5 was touted as an expensive item, and the price rumors went pretty high, but these “leaked” prices might go two ways: either they’re the real McCoy or just placeholders, that is if you think that anything over $500 is not gonna cut it. We could predict the standard PS5 at $499 USD and the Digital at $399 and feel safe about it. Think about it… while you’re at it, stream something from LevelUp.bet.
