BLIZZARD LOOKS FOR ALTERNATIVE OPTIONS AFTER OFFICIALLY CANCELING BLIZZCON 2020
The yearly Blizzard convention has been given the boot since everybody’s bad guy COVID-19 is still giving everyone around a great big pain in the ass.
The organization announced today that two months after they sent out a release mentioning their concern for the hosting of the event, the ongoing state of emergency set in March helped them make this decision. BlizzCon executive producer Saralyn Smith commented, “Since then, a lot has changed… and a lot also hasn’t changed. During this time, we’ve had many discussions about what holding a convention could look like in light of all the health and safety considerations we’d want to make. We’ve also talked about different paths we could take, and how each one could be complicated by fluctuations in national and local health guidelines in the months ahead.” There were no plans mentioned for a digital BlizzCon substitute for now, but it seems there will be in the near future.
